A very positive start as a Harris Academy
Earlier this month saw Harris Primary Academy Croydon join the Harris Federation and I am very proud to be the Assistant Director responsible for the academy. In my position, I shall be supporting Mr McCrae and all the staff at the academy to ensure that every child makes excellent progress and gets the standard of education they deserve. It has been a pleasure to get to know your children better over the past few weeks.
While the past month marked our official start as a Harris academy, in reality, there has been lots of work going on behind the scenes over the summer and since September to ensure that the transition goes smoothly. As well as getting to know parents, pupils and staff, this has included putting in place improvements to the curriculum and ICT so that everyone starts to feel the benefits of becoming a member of the Harris community from day one.
Our pupils have been producing some excellent work this half term and I have been incredibly impressed with their progress in maths and English. These are two key areas where we have implemented changes and it is pleasing to see this is already having a positive impact. We hope that, as parents and carers, you will find this improvement reflected in your child’s homework.
Walking around the academy I am very proud to see engaged and happy pupils enjoying their lessons. It is a shame that due to the pandemic we are unable to welcome parents into the academy for an official opening event as we would usually do. Still, we do hope to arrange an event to mark your new beginning as a Harris academy and we will keep you updated on this.
